You wrote a ‘fabulous’ piece on me! The 1st one that I have ever felt that the journalist expressed my words in a professional and convivial manner. I would like to make arrangements to use your article as a link on MAHSM’s web site and distribute the article. Can you find time to help me figure out the ‘rights’ implications!

In fact, you have a wide selection of material that needs wider exposure that deals with Spanish speaking Spanish surname demographics. Let’s have a sit-down!!

Dear Leo Adam,
I recently found your piece about the Brandeis family of Omaha. What a fascinating and complete portrayal you crafted! Their Sand Hills ranch had a manager for many years under E. John, named Emil Malmberg. I am recently married to one of his sons, Jack who is now 72 years old. As soon as my sweetie began telling about his youth on the Brandeis place, I lit up, for I am Jewish. He didn’t know anything about the Jewish identity of that famous clan, didn’t even know what “Jewish” meant until recently. [He’s getting the schmaltz from being married to me, so Jack is catching up.]
Anyway, I thought you’d like to know that there are 3 sons and 3 daughters of Emil’s along with ancillary relations spread all over the country. Emil always had one horse named Hugo, by the way. I am grateful for your 2-part essay on the Brandeis clan of NE. Hope you are involved in many worthy journalistic efforts!

Looks like this is the spot to leave kudos. Omaha is my hometown, Central c/o 87 and North Omaha is my childhood home (24th and Spencer). Thanks for the profiles on the Bryant-Fishers, North Omaha Days etc….having experienced those things first hand…almost ad nauseum over the course of my childhood, I can’t say that I had ANY appreciation for or knowledge of the depth of their importance to the community or the history behind them. Thanks for enlightening me, even at this late date. Lots to be proud of, remember and build on in North O. Well done and well written!
